From the day SHoP Architects released renderings to the public, the first Domino Sugar redevelopment building at 325 Kent Avenue created a buzz over its atypical architecture. Our in-house architecture critic, Carter Horsley, was especially captivated by the form, describing it as: “Take a big, “U”-shaped building and step its long ‘paws’ down away from the river but open up its middle with a very large rectangular opening and then coat it with a copper base and a zinc top and you have a very special and spectacular Brooklyn ‘donut’ that may do that borough’s architecture what Nathan’s 'hot dogs' did to Coney Island.”
Carter wasn't the only one whose attention was captured by the building - when the affordable housing lottery launched in June, Two Trees Management received over 87,000 applications for the 104 affordable apartments. For those who missed out on the housing lottery, the team is now leasing the bulk of its apartments with up to two months of free rent on a 16-month lease. Net-effective prices start at $2,284/month for studios, $3,093/month for one-bedrooms, and $4,546/month for two-bedrooms, many of which have sprawling terraces.

Additionally, there is a 2,000-square-foot fourth floor courtyard offering a reprieve from the bustling South Williamsburg neighborhood around it.
