Carter Horsley's Review of 10 Park Avenue

Carter Horsley's Building Review
"Erected in 1930, this 28-story building was formerly a hotel and was owned by the Community Church of New York City, which was located nearby, from 1943 to 1973. It was designed by Helmle, Corbett and Harrison, an architectural firm whose principals included Harvey Wiley Corbett, who was influential in Modernist skyscraper designs, and Wallace Harrison, who went on to many major commissions from the Rockefeller family. The building has 277 units, mostly small apartments, which were converted to cooperatives in 1974. The rather stately building, which has a limestone base beneath its beige masonry façades, has several setbacks and terraces. At the south end of Murray Hill, this has fabulous views from its upper floors in all directions as it is substantially taller than the other residential buildings on Park Avenue south of Grand Central Terminal. Just two blocks from the Empire State Building and three blocks from the wonderful Morgan Library, this building is very centrally located with excellent bus and subway service."
