Carter’s Review

"At first glance, the 36-story residential tower known as the Evans Tower at 171 East 84th Street on the northeast corner at Third Avenue appears like just another minimalist Upper East Side light-colored-brick tower. Yet its massing and plan are very finely accomplished here, creating a good plaza at the corner in an area that needs such relief and its cross axis opens up more views for the residents while also making the large building a bit less massive. Developed by Louis Evangelista and Legent Realty Company, the building contains 220 condominium apartments and opened in early 1986 in a neighborhood that has become quite lively with a good mix of restaurants and neighborhood stores. It was designed by Philip Birnbaum & Associates

Full service building built 1985. Lobby could use some updating. Small gym needs updating. Party space and pool area need updating. Not for those looking for that new construction feel.
