Madison Square Park Tower via Douglas Elliman Madison Square Park Tower via Douglas Elliman
For more than 100 years, the Flatiron Building has symbolized its downtown neighborhood so strongly that the surrounding area was named after it. However, it and many of its early 20th-century landmark neighbors have witnessed some new competition with the new skyscraping additions of One Madison and Madison Square Park Tower. The latter is a mid-block glass-clad tower rising 777 feet high and featuring a sculptural silhouette shaped by Kohn Pedersen Fox Architects.
The apartments within enjoy spectacular skyline views, generous square footage, and sumptuous interiors. This is especially the case at the triplex penthouse on floors 63-65, which topped last week's largest contracts at $52 million. This comes in the wake of a reduction from its original, jaw-dropping price of $77.7 million, but still puts the next highest contract, a magnificent combination unit at 70 Vestry Street, in the dust - how odd to think of an $18.445 million condo as such!
