While often marketed as pied-a-terres or starter homes, many buyers often find them too appealing to ever leave and they can be easily rented out when spending time away from the city. According to CityRealty data, the average price of a Manhattan one-bedroom condo is $1.31 million, up slightly (+0.8%) from the 2017 average of $1.3 million.

In 2019, five neighborhoods throughout Manhattan had their average one-bedroom condo prices come in below $1 million. Below, we look at apartments at or around the local average as well as bargains in each area.
