"What was once a rundown strip of diners and schlocky souvenir shops has been transformed into some of the world's most expensive real estate." So says The Wall Street Journal of Billionaires' Row, and two of the past week's top sales took place in this setting. The top sale took place at Aman New York Residences, the luxury hotel/condo conversion of the Crown Building on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, with #19B closing for $22,145,967. According to the offering plan, the apartment has two bedrooms, a home office, two full baths, and 3,498 interior square feet.

One block west, a four-bedroom at 111 West 57th Street, the combination of the landmarked Steinway Hall and a soaring, slender new tower closed for $13,500,000. The apartment is located in the Steinway Hall component; while it closed for 14% below the asking price of $15.75 million when it entered contract in April 2023, it was nevertheless good enough for the fourth-highest sale of the past week.

The top downtown sale and second-highest overall took place at 443 Greenwich Street, where the four-bedroom #5H closed for $14,995,000. Both the buyer and seller conducted the transaction through LLCs, but the building has become well known for its celebrity residents.
On the Upper East Side, a penthouse at The Benson, a Madison Avenue boutique condominium closed for $14,795,274. The Real Deal identified the buyer as the building's developer, Miki Naftali, and noted that this penthouse came in well below others in the building. It was nevertheless good enough for the third-highest sale of the past week.
