After a summer of record-breaking rental inventory, the number of listings is starting to plateau this fall: CityRealty listings show 20,524 availabilities throughout Manhattan, northern Brooklyn, and western Queens. The overall Manhattan listing count fell 4% to 15,498, and the Manhattan median rent dropped 5% to $3,114/month.
In this renter's market, landlords and management are offering creative concessions and going to new lengths to woo would-be residents. As an example, Gotham West has added a pet concierge to its already impressive amenity suite. Not only will the building feature dog walking, grooming, and training facilities on-site, but the concierge also caters to our feline friends with cat visits and feedings.
