As of mid-January 2026, basketball season is in full swing. Selection Sunday for March Madness is less than two months away, and the professional season got off to a robust start. Early in the 2025-2026 NBA season, the league announced that viewership was up 92% year-over-year with the most viewers in 15 years in light of the new "Tap to Watch" digital initiative to seamlessly direct fans to live games.
This is exciting for fans all over the country, including New York City. Hell Gate calls the Knicks the only sports team that brings the city together, as opposed to divisions between Yankees/Mets and Jets/Giants fans, and this will come as no surprise to anyone who's walked by Madison Square Garden on game day. For those without tickets, there is no shortage of sports bars to enjoy the game.

Basketball season may have some feeling inclined to get in the game themselves, but that can be a tricky proposition at this time of year. Cold weather is in New York's forecast for the next several days, and outdoor courts at the city's parks are likely to fill up fast after even the slightest thaw. However, some lucky New Yorkers are well positioned to get in the game: Condos and rentals all over the city count indoor basketball courts among their amenities. And for those who'd rather watch than play, the extensive amenity packages also include lounges with big-screen TVs.

Those who'd rather watch the game than play will have their choice of lounges throughout the building.
