After a scary surge in coronavirus cases earlier this winter, things have turned around in New York City to a point where the city can consider dropping the vaccination requirement for indoor venues in early March if things remain encouraging. New York State announced a statewide seven-day average test positivity rate of below 2 percent for the first time since fall 2021. High vaccination numbers are a key factor here; more information on the vaccine and where to get it may be found here.

New York’s many sectors are in varying stages of recovery from the pandemic and the economic fallout, but the city is currently leading in cryptocurrency: A recent report found that in 2021, New York-based startups raised $6.5 billion, or 46 percent of U.S. blockchain funding. Silicon Valley trailed with only (!) $3.9 billion.

It remains to be seen whether cryptocurrency will become a daily presence in our lives, but certain listings are already accepting it in payment. In the meantime, New York’s real estate market is also still going strong, with Manhattan median prices coming to $2,357,062 ($1,867 per square foot) for condos and $869,304 for co-ops (per CityRealty listings). We take a look at listings in new developments throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.
