The Academy Awards ("Oscars") on Sunday, March 2 will take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, but several 2025 nominees have connections to New York City. Best Picture nominees Anora and A Complete Unknown take place in Brighton Beach and Greenwich Village, respectively, and smash Broadway musical Wicked was adapted into a film nominated for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture. It was also nominated for Best Costume Design, and nominee Paul Tazewell told Gothamist that Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Chrysler Building, and Rockefeller Center inspired his designs for the movie.
