Carter’s Review

"This impressive, Art Deco-style tower at 160 Central Park South would be one of the most distinguished buildings along Central Park South were it not for its big rooftop sign that proclaims its name, the Essex House.

The 42-story building, which was designed by Frank Grad, was originally called the Park Tower and then the Seville Towers before becoming the Essex House Hotel."

Broker & Buyer Comments

Please note that these comments have not been reviewed or confirmed by CityRealty and may be old, incomplete or otherwise inaccurate. Be sure to consult with a qualified real estate specialist for up-to-date information.

The building is a pre-war building with a very lavish lobby. There are entrances on both Central Park South and 58th Street, although the main entrance is the one on Central Park South. The building functions as both a Hotel and a Condo, so the units are mixed. Even the floors can be mixed between hotel rooms and Condo units. The Jumeirah corporation bought the hotel early this year and have made tremendous efforts to keep the original feel of ultra-luxury while bringing the amenities into the 21st century.

There is no Condo Board to speak of. The sales process is quite easy and although there is a Condo Office that oversees the process, it is really quite a simple process.

Central Park is directly across the street. The Essex House is a premier Condo steps to all 5th Avenue shopping, Central Park, Time Warner Center and much more. The N,R,Q,W,B,D,F,1,A and C trains are all withing a short walk.
Hotel Condominium locacated on central park south.
