Earlier this week on Live with Kelly and Mark, co-host Mark Conseulos took an ice bath on camera, saying “I feel great, I’m in, I’m sold” as he emerged from the chilly water. This puts him among the ranks of celebrities like Lizzo, Serena Williams, Drake, and the Kardashians, who have extolled the benefits of ice baths and cold plunges. These include decreased swelling and inflammation, relieved muscle soreness, improved sleep, a more radiant appearance, and a rush of endorphins.
Some celebrities have gone so far as to buy their own cold plunge tubs, though it is important to note that these were for their single-family houses. This is not a feasible option in the vast majority of New York City apartments, but Remedy Place, AIRE Ancient Baths, Great Jones Spa, and Russian & Turkish Baths are among the city spas offering this feature. Others, however, don’t even have to leave their building to partake – a number of new developments have incorporated cold plunge pools into their health and wellness amenity packages.
