Features

As of this writing, New York City is bracing itself for another bout of winter weather. Just as the sidewalks were starting to get clear again after last week's nor'easter, another winter storm system is in the forecast. While Western and Central New York are expected to bear the brunt of it this time, that is not to say that the city's predicted heavy rain and wintry mix will be a pleasant experience.

Saunas and steam rooms can offer a reprieve from that. The temperature of a typical sauna ranges from 150 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, and comes as a welcome contrast to cold outdoor temperatures. They also offer such health benefits as increased circulation, reduced muscle soreness, and greater feelings of relaxation. Add in the fact that coronavirus cases are plummeting all over the country, particularly in New York, and saunas and steam rooms can feel more approachable than at this time last year.

Several luxury gyms and spas have saunas, but certain luxury buyers don’t need to leave their homes for a day of wellness. Once the domain of the most exclusive spas, offerings like hot tubs, infrared saunas, and “water lounges” have made their way into residential buildings’ amenity packages.
